Inspired by the work. Committed to the artist.
Komitto.art carries the feeling of コミット, the Japanese way of saying "commit": full dedication, in this case to art. Its spirit is 約束 (yakusoku), a promise made to the artist who inspired it.
The gallery represents artists of an older generation who created throughout their lives, often outside the spotlight, their work simply waiting to be discovered.
The programme begins with Paul Koning (1943–2026), painter and draughtsman, who entrusted his life's work to founder Jaurana Verschuren. His oeuvre will be gradually revealed through art fairs and exhibitions, beginning with the Koning Editions, a limited series of his late drawings selected together with the artist.
Connecting people with art that endures, from a first acquisition to a lasting collection.

VERSCHUREN
Komitto.art is founded with one conviction: there are extraordinary artists the world has not yet discovered, unique talents who deserve a stage.
Holding a degree in art history I have worked closely with artists, musicians and institutions in Spain and the Netherlands: the museum MACBA in Barcelona, a private collection in Spain, and the Amsterdam galleries Gerhard Hofland and Ellen de Bruijne Projects. My earlier career in fundraising for emerging talent taught me that lasting connections are built on trust and sincerity, principles that guide how I work with artists and collectors today.
I look at art with an artist's eye, as much intuition as skill. Reading the formal elements of a work in light of what the artist set out to convey, the deeper meaning beneath the surface. What moves me is the story behind the work: the dedication, craftsmanship and life of the artist. Komitto.art brings curatorial insight and a collector's instinct together, a place where the right work finds the right collector.
Where Komitto.art began.
The seed for Komitto.art was planted in 2005, when I met Paul Koning (1943–2026) at a collector's private museum in Girona, Spain. Over the twenty years that followed, we talked about his work, philosophy, the beauty of nature and art. Our conversations were always full of humour. A teacher as well as an artist, he taught me to paint, and through painting myself, I learned to look at art in a new way.
In his younger years, Koning occasionally exhibited at a gallery and his studio in Vogelenzang. Later, he shared his work only with those close to him, and ultimately entrusted it to me. It is now the spark and foundation of everything the gallery sets out to do.
